Activities Coordinator
The Napier District Masonic Trust is proud to have assisted the aged in our community for the past 60 years and will continue to plan and provide housing and care for our elderly in the coming years.

About Our Role
We’re seeking an Activities Assistant to join our dedicated activities team at our Elmwood facility in Napier South.
In this special role, you’ll work
closely with our residents to deliver person‑centred activity programmes that
support their overall wellbeing. You’ll help create meaningful, enjoyable
experiences tailored to their interests, abilities, and preferences—bringing
purpose, connection, and joy to their daily lives.
This part-time position will
require you to work 24 hours per week 9:30am – 6:00pm Friday - Sunday. However,
there is also the opportunity to pick up additional shifts for those looking
for more hours.
We are also open to sharing this
role between two people, so if you cannot work all three days across the
weekend please don’t be deterred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow our planned activities calendar, ensuring the delivery of activities are engaging and support the residents’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellbeing.
- Tailor activities to individual needs, interests, abilities, and cultural backgrounds to promote dignity, connection, and a sense of purpose in daily life.
- Empower residents to maintain their
independence by encouraging participation and social connections both
inside and outside of the facility.
- Provide regularly reporting including documenting activities provided, participation, and outcomes accurately to evaluate programme effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with the wider activities team to ensure activities and programmes support a consistent, person-centred approach to dementia care.
About You
We’re looking for a creative and motivated individual. You may already have experience in a similar role or you could be a Level 3 or 4 Healthcare Assistant with dementia care experience who’s ready to bring their skills into the world of activities.
Either way, you’ll bring energy, warmth, and compassion to our residents. You’ll fit well in a collaborative team environment and your excellent communication skills will support the effective delivery of care, ensuring we remain responsive to our residents' changing needs.
Excellent time management, organisation and strong documentations skills will additionally help you succeed in this role.
