Chef
The Napier District Masonic Trust is proud to have assisted the aged in our community for the past 60 years and will continue to plan and provide housing and care for our elderly in the coming years. We have an excellent reputation for providing quality residential aged care and affordable retirement village accommodation. We believe every elderly person has a right to a place they can call home regardless of age, stage, means or needs. We are a community built on love, respect and care for our residents, their families and each other.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis.
This role will see you leading the meal service and guiding the kitchen teams to produce quality food that appeals to all the senses!
Working from a modern, purpose-built kitchen, you will be providing high quality meals for our residents and providing direction to our kitchen team to ensure our residents receive nutritious, well presented, delicious food and a positive dining experience.
Working on a rostered basis, shifts are daytime shifts (no late nights!!) within both our facilities in Taradale and Napier South. You will need to have flexibility to work some weekend shifts, however we share this so you won't need to work every single weekend (unless you want to!)
We also do lots of fun events and themed days for our residents so you have plenty of opportunity to showcase your culinary flair and creativity.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You will ideally be a qualified chef or very experienced cook with substantial experience in a commercial kitchen and confidence cooking top quality meals in large quantities. If you have an understanding of the nutritional needs of elderly this would also be beneficial.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can produce quality, appetizing food at high quantities;
- Enjoys using their creativity to present visually appealing meals, regardless of dietary requirements;
- Can maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment;
- Can use their excellent leadership and communication skills to support the effective running of our kitchen.
- Takes pride in providing superior customer service and demonstrates patience and empathy with our elderly residents;
- Remains calm under pressure and works well within a team environment.
If you have a strong and reliable work ethic and want to work in a supportive, friendly environment as an integral member of our team then we would love to hear from you. Competitive remuneration with additional staff benefits will be offered.
We are a fun, friendly team who are passionate about providing restaurant quality cuisine for our residents.
