Kitchen Assistant

The Napier District Masonic Trust is proud to have assisted the aged in our community for the past 60 years and will continue to plan and provide housing and care for our elderly in the coming years. We have an excellent reputation for providing quality residential aged care and affordable retirement village accommodation. We are seeking experienced Kitchen Assistants to join our Taradale aged care facility on a casual basis. 

We are a caring, friendly team with a modern purpose-built commercial kitchen.

These are casual "as required" position to fill gaps in our roster and cover staff leave. Shifts include day, dinner and weekend shifts. 

Reporting to the Chef, duties include assisting with the set up and basic preparation of meals for our residents and completing kitchen duties including dishes and cleaning.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous kitchen and food handling experience OR enjoys being in a kitchen environment and has the ability to train into this position. 
• Can maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in a clean, tidy, safe and hazard free environment;
• Is a team player;
• Has great communication and customer service skills;
• Can manage their time efficiently;
• Has (or is willing to obtain once employed) Basic Food Safety 167.
• Is caring and empathetic towards our elderly residents.
